How to Shop the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale

Guys.. This is a big deal. Set your alarms. The Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale dates were announced and it will start this upcoming Monday.

Last year, the website crashed and we were "oh shifting" all over the place. To prepare for the sale, I've listed some tips.

1. If you have your heart set on something, look for that item first. Things will sell out very quickly. The holy grail prints like Let's Cha Cha, Tusk In Sun and You Gotta Regatta will sell out first. Prior to the sale, make a quick list of what you hope to get out of the sale. I listed down Callahans, Elsa's and Murfees because those are the items I like to collect.

2. Set a limit. My dream is to have a million dollar gift card so I can purchase everything Lilly Pulitzer, but that's never going to happen. Make sure you have money in your account and don't over indulge if you can't afford to.

3. Check out early and often. Just because you have something in your cart, it doesn't mean you have it. I've heard plenty of stories of people checking out and having their items disappear from their shopping bag. The struggle is real. This is why most people choose to buy each item in separate transactions. Don't wait to have five items in your shopping bag. You will probably lose one of those items when you checkout. Don't risk it. I've had this happen to me when I kept a Let's Cha Cha dress in my bag. I browsed for more items and after two minutes, the dress was gone.

4. Get online before the scheduled time. For the New Years Cheers Sale, a few people were let in the website to preview the sale. I'm not sure if they will let us this time around, but it is worth a try. The sale goes live at 8am EST on Monday. I'll be on the site around 4:30am PST to preview the sale.

5. Check out the signature stores. They will also participate in the sale. I highly recommend The Pink Pelican and The Pink Palm.

6. Make a Lilly Pulitzer account. If you have not already made an account, you should make one prior to the sale. It saves up a lot of time because you won't have to input all your information during the sale.

This is going to be a very good weekend. Ladies, may the odds ever be in your favor (Sorry I just had to!).

Have you scored some great deals in the Endless Summer Sale or New Years Cheers Sale?

Addicted to Gold

I'm so addicted to metallic gold lettering. I've been playing around with a few Lilly quotes on Photoshop and this is what I came up with today. I will post a tutorial soon on how you can make your own gold lettered prints. This would be perfect to hang on your wall. Feel free to use these prints for your own personal use.

Happy Spring!

HAPPY SPRING! The weather is just perfect right now in San Francisco. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I already see some spring flower blooms in our garden. I wanted to celebrate the first day of spring here on the blog by sharing my first day of spring outfit. I recently purchased the Catch of Day callahans and I paired it with a plain white Made tee. I accessorized with Target gold sandals and a statement necklace.

The B&K shop is currently closed, but I wanted to give you a chance to win one of our new Lilly Pulitzer bows. I recently received the fabric shipment of the 2014 spring prints. One lucky reader will win one bow from me. :)

What did you wear on the first day of spring?

What I Wore: Shorts - Lilly Pulitzer Catch of the Day Callahans | Sandals - Target Lavada Slide Sandal | White T-Shirt | Made | Sunglasses - Raybans | Koozie - Lilly Pulitzer Tiger Lilly | Nail Polish - Essie's Avenue Maintain

B&K Set Sail

1. B&K Navy Blue Bow - Navy Been Better
2. Lilly Pulitzer Tote - Coastal Tote
3. B&K T-Shirt - Set Sail Shirt
4. Lilly Pulitzer Shorts - Barclay Shorts

Yesterday, I introduced a new item to the B&K brand. Shirts! With the Set Sail shirt, I was inspired by San Francisco's Marina District. You can purchase the shirt on Tee Spring. The Set Sail shirt is available for a limited time. Our campaign goal is 25 shirts. If we reach our goal, our shirts will get printed. I'm so excited to share this with you all.

What's In My Makeup Bag

Current Favorites:
  • Make Up Forever HD High Definition Microfinish Powder - I put this after I put on my foundation. It totally smooths everything down and gives it that nice finish. Just remember to blend, blend, blend!
  • Nars Torrid Blush: Beautiful color! I use this everyday. Unlike the Orgasm blush, it doesn't have that glitter overload.
  • BB Cream: I rotate between L'Oreal Paris's BB Cream and Pacifica Alight BB Cream. They're the best products that are out there. I love that they are not crazy expensive. They're both light and easily blendable.
  • Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipsticks By Kate Moss: My go-to lipstick!
  • Daisy by Marc Jacobs: Fresh and feminine. It smells amazing.
You can pick up these products at Target, Ulta or Sephora!

What's in your make up bag? What's your favorite product right now?

How to Score Lilly Pulitzer Items Without Breaking the Bank

Spring is a hop, skip and jump away. Lilly Pulitzer is my go-to store for Spring/Summer items. If you are college girl on a budget, you'll find some items a bit expensive. But don't fret! There are a couple of ways you can score Lilly Pulitzer items without breaking the bank! Let me show how..

1. Check out the Re-Lilly Group on Facebook.

What is Re-Lilly? Re-Lilly is a place where you can buy/sell/swap used or new Lilly Pulitzer items. They post Lilly items every day for a reduced price.

Pros: I love Re-Lilly because you can find some of the older Lilly Pulitzer patterns for sale. It's always exciting to find You Gotta Regatta, Tusk In Sun, Let's Cha Cha and Peel and Eat items. I've bought several items from the sellers on the Facebook group. I've bought three murfees and a dress for great prices. On the Lilly Pulitzer website, a murfee usually goes for $118. On Re-Lilly, I was able to score a murfee scarf for $40! Now that's awesome.

Cons: You will have to contact the sellers if you are interested in purchasing their product. If it is a well sought out item, it is not always certain that you will get the item. It is usually on a first-come, first-serve basis.

2. Wait for the Endless Summer Sale or the New Years Cheer Sale.

What is the ESS or the NYCS? Lilly Pulitzer hosts two online sales every year. They offer some of our favorite prints at a great price (sometimes 60% off)!

Pros: This is a time where Lilly Pulitzer tries to clear their inventory, so you'll probably find some great finds. On the New Years Cheer Sale, I was able to find one You Gotta Regatta item, a Blue Anchors popover and two items in Get Nauti. They offer great prices and free shipping. My items came in the mail four days later.

Cons: Waking up early. Putting something in your tote and watching it disappear. Website troubles (I ended up not getting anything on the ESS because of the website problems). Limited sizes available.

3. Bows & Scarves.

This Tusk In Sun scarf is from Bows and Flows Boutique.

This Lilly Pulitzer Mai Tai bow is from Bows & Kites.

Check Out These Shops: Bows & Kites, Bows & Flows Boutique and Bows Down South.

Pros: There are various shops online where you can purchase a Lilly Pulitzer bow or scarf. The prices vary from $5 to $40. I love buying Lilly Pulitzer bows because they are so adorable and affordable. Definitely fits the college budget. Skip that $118 murfee and get this adorable scarf from Bows and Flows Boutique for $30!

Cons: Sometimes the fabric is not authentic. I know a lot of prints are not sold anymore. I know the You Gotta Regatta fabric is not sold anymore (unless people are cutting up their YGR dresses - Yikes!), so please be careful!

4. Score some deals on Rue La La!

Pros: Rue La La often features Lilly Pulitzer items on their site. I was able to find a You Gotta Regatta bikini bottom for half the retail price.

Cons: Very limited sizes.
